you like to write in margins? why?
5:41pmAndrew
umm, ever find a book with all sorts of scribbles along the side of the pages? I love them.
I personally don't write in books though.
5:42pmPendar
is that what the dj does?
write in the margins
5:44pmAndrew
Depends on the DJ. But for the most part yeah
Its a big part of electronic music
hearing the song, making it your own, with your own little touch.
5:45pmPendar
define sensoria.. in your own words
5:45pmAndrew
in my own words? sensoria was a night looking to fill a gap in this city.
5:46pmPendar
how did it fill this void?
5:47pmAndrew
well, lets look whats in a word.
5:47pmPendar
pls elucidate me
5:47pmAndrew
sensoria is the sum of your sensual perception.
5:48pmPendar
how does a night touch these senses?
5:48pmAndrew
well, at once, its supposed to be genre-agnostic, but with an emphasis on lower frequency music for a more physical experience to the sound
we also highlight video montage artists at each of our events,
vjs are totally under represented in this city.
5:49pmPendar
next sensoria.. date, place pls.
5:49pmAndrew
7th of feb
and each and every first saturday of the month
5:50pmPendar
who's in the kitchen?
5:50pmAndrew
well, this time we're trying something a little deeper.
i've extended timeslots for each performer, giving them the time they need to develop a groove
then i'm bringing in DJG from San Francisco for the night
5:51pmPendar
what's on the menu? what can people expect to hear?
5:51pmAndrew
and from Toronto we have Loetech, which is XI and Bombaman
people can expect to hear something different, something they've been waiting to hear.
but hadn't heard yet.
5:53pmPendar
venue?
5:53pmAndrew
The Augusta House.
Kensington market.
5:55pmPendar
where would you like the scene to go? what's your dance utopia (before certain dystopia), in other words, what is your hope for the spring/summer?
5:56pmAndrew
spring/summer, this city will be blossoming, the scene is already moving in the right direction. Look at the recognition that good Toronto talent has been receiving?
Musicians we love and support are getting loved back from the city.
5:58pmAndrew
Syntonics are on the move, Egyptrixx has some new tracks coming out soon, XI and Bombaman are doing big things, Dubslingers nights are getting more and more packed with each and every week, Sensoria's name is spreading.
5:59pmAndrew
and there's less and less Indy sidechained house.
The term "Rave" is suddenly not Ironic anymore.
classic house is getting more love.
6:00pmPendar
amen
6:00pmAndrew
I'm seeing more and more after hours popping up too
6:02pmPendar
what do you feel about place capital and its hold on the dance scene. what venues besides augusta house would you envision using in hopes that a crowd would follow?
6:03pmAndrew
Venues are tough in this city. This city in general lacks a proper sound system, Thymeless has a good system, but you don't see that kind of low end system making its ways into many of the venues.
if you ever go to party anywhere else, you notice a kind of dedication to the sound that we just don't have in this city
the closest we have is the mod club and circa (sometimes)
6:04pmPendar
don't you find sound in the main room at circa just floats away?
6:04pmAndrew
well, wrongbar has a funktion one
<3<3 funktion one.
yeah, Circa has its flaws, but for what it is, it does it well.
6:05pmPendar
what is your dream party? what would be sensoria's hell spawn?
6:06pmAndrew
hahahahaha... umm, sorry if that was a bit maniacal.
6:09pmAndrew
umm, ideally. a different groups of people, like, who cares what clique you're part of, dancing to huge bass, in an all night venue, with artists like Kode 9, Crazy Counsinz, Benga, and Flying Lotus, huge visuals. maybe inside a geodesic dome with a 360 projector with clouds and typographic marquees.
6:10pmPendar
what would you wear?
6:10pmAndrew
what i wore to work that day most likely.
